About this tool
If your video already uses H.264 video and AAC audio, we just repackage it as MP4. That's very fast and loses no quality. Otherwise (for example iPhone HEVC video) it's converted to H.264.

Limitations
- HEVC (H.265) and ProRes videos are re-encoded to H.264, which takes longer and can make the file bigger or smaller depending on the source.
- HDR video is converted to standard dynamic range and may look slightly different.
- Only the first video and audio track are kept.
- Maximum upload size and length are shown in the upload box.

Frequently asked questions
Will I lose quality?
If the video can be repackaged, there's no quality loss at all. If it needs re-encoding, we use a high quality setting, so differences are hard to see.
Is the audio kept?
Yes. Audio is copied if it's already AAC, or converted to AAC otherwise.
Why is the MP4 bigger than my MOV?
iPhone HEVC video is very efficient. H.264 needs more data for the same quality, but plays almost everywhere. Use the Video Compressor if you need it smaller.
