Resize Image for WhatsApp

WhatsApp crops profile photos to a circle and shows status images full-screen on phones. Choose what you're making, move the crop to frame it the way you want, and save a ready-to-post JPG.

Your images are processed inside your browser and are never uploaded to our servers.

About this tool

These presets are practical sizes that work well, not official WhatsApp requirements. WhatsApp also recompresses photos it sends, so what you get here gives you control over framing, not final quality.

Frequently asked questions

Why does WhatsApp cut off part of my profile photo?

WhatsApp shows profile photos as a circle. The corners of a square image are hidden. The circle preview here shows what will stay visible.

Is 640 x 640 the official WhatsApp size?

WhatsApp doesn't publish an official required size. 640 x 640 is sharp on phone screens and keeps the file small.

Can I post a photo without it being cropped?

Use 'Share a photo'. It keeps the original shape and just reduces very large photos.
