Compress Image to 100KB Online
Marukit's Compress Image to 100KB is a free web tool that gets a JPG, PNG or WebP photo under 100 KB at the highest quality that fits, for forms and job portals. It shrinks the dimensions only if it must.
Your images are processed inside your browser and are never uploaded to our servers.
About this tool
You always see the real output size. If an image can't reach 100 KB within the limits you set, we tell you instead of pretending it did.
Other sizes: 20 KB · 50 KB · 200 KB · 1 MB
How to use the 100KB image compressor
- Choose the image you need to upload.
- Keep JPG as the format unless the form accepts WebP. JPG is accepted almost everywhere.
- Leave 'Reduce dimensions if needed' on for large photos, so the tool can make the image smaller when quality alone can't reach 100 KB.
- Press Compress, check the preview and the exact size, then download.
Not working? Quick fixes
- 'Couldn't reach 100 KB without reducing dimensions': turn on 'Reduce dimensions if needed' and try again.
- 'This image is already under 100 KB': no compression is needed, so you can download the file as it is.
- The form still says the file is too big: some forms count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so their 100 KB is 100,000 bytes. Compare that with the byte count shown next to the result; if it's over, use the Image Compressor with a lower quality instead.
Supported formats
- Input
- JPG, PNG, WebP (plus GIF, BMP and AVIF if your browser can open them)
- Output
- JPG or WebP
- Processing
- In your browser
Limitations
- The result is aimed at just under 100 KB (102,400 bytes). Some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes; the exact byte count is shown so you can check.
- If a form also requires exact pixel dimensions (for example 200 x 230 px), resize first with the Image Resizer, then compress.
- Transparent areas become white in JPG output.
- 50 MB maximum input size.
- Camera details and GPS location are not kept in the output image, unless the image is already under the target and is returned unchanged.
Frequently asked questions
How does it get my image under 100 KB?
It tries quality levels with a binary search to find the highest quality under 100 KB. If even a low quality is too big, and you allowed it, it scales the image down a little and tries again.
What if the form needs the image between 20 KB and 100 KB?
The tool aims for just under 100 KB, so the result normally sits well above 20 KB. The exact size is shown before you download.
Will my photo look blurry?
Small photos usually look fine at 100 KB. Very large, detailed photos may need to be resized to fit, which is better than heavy compression artifacts.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser.
Can I compress a PNG to 100 KB?
Yes. Upload the PNG and the result is saved as JPG (or WebP), because PNG is lossless and rarely gets that small. Transparent areas turn white in JPG.
Do I need an app to compress an image to 100 KB?
No. It works in the browser on iPhone, Android and PC, so there is nothing to install or sign up for.
