How to Download Twitter (X) Videos on iPhone, Android and PC

The X app doesn't give most people a way to save a video to their phone or computer. Here's how to download a Twitter video or GIF from its link, for free and without an app, in under a minute.

When saving an X video is useful

Maybe you want to keep a clip you posted yourself, watch it offline on a flight, or send it to a friend on WhatsApp who doesn't use X. A downloader saves the post's video as a normal MP4 file you can keep, edit or share like any other video. You don't need an X account, X Premium or an app.

Only download videos you made or have permission to use, and credit the creator if you share them.

Step 1: Copy the post's link

  1. Open the post with the video in the X app.
  2. Tap the Share icon under the post.
  3. Tap Copy link. It looks like x.com/username/status/…

On a computer, open the post on x.com and copy the address from the address bar. Old twitter.com links work too.

Step 2: Paste the link into Marukit

  1. Open the X (Twitter) Video Downloader.
  2. Tap Paste. If your browser asks to read the clipboard, allow it. Or tap the box and paste the link yourself; it starts automatically. You can also press Download.
  3. Wait a few seconds while it says Fetching video.... You'll see the post's text, the account name and the video length.

Step 3: Pick a quality

The buttons depend on what X stores for that post, so not every video has every size. You'll usually see:

  • MP4 (best quality): the sharpest version X has.
  • MP4 1080p HD or MP4 720p HD: sharp, with a smaller file at 720p.
  • MP4 480p or MP4 360p: small files that are quick to send.
  • MP3 (audio only): just the sound, for a speech or a song clip.

Tap one and you'll see Preparing your video... (or Converting to MP3... for audio). When it says Download started!, the file is on its way. The MP4 uses H.264 video where X offers it, so it plays on iPhone, Android, Windows and WhatsApp.

Saving GIFs from X

GIFs on X are really short, silent videos. Paste the post link the same way and choose MP4 (best quality): you get a short MP4 video that plays on any phone or computer. It won't loop by itself the way it does on X. Skip MP3, because a GIF has no sound.

Where the file goes on each device

  • iPhone: Safari shows a download arrow at the top. The file is in the Files app under Downloads. To put it in your camera roll, open it, tap Share, then Save Video.
  • Android: open the Files or Downloads app. Most gallery apps also show it in a Downloads album.
  • Windows or Mac: it's in your Downloads folder.

If the download doesn't work

  • "No video was found in this post." The post has only text or photos, no video.
  • "Video not found. It may have been deleted. Check the link." The post was deleted, or the link was cut off when you copied it.
  • "This link isn't supported. Make sure it points to a single public post." You copied a profile or search link. Copy the link of the post itself.
  • "Couldn't fetch this video right now. Please try again in a moment." X is slow or busy for a moment. Wait a minute and try again. If it keeps failing on the same post, the account may be protected (lock icon) or the post marked as sensitive. X only shows those to logged-in viewers, so they can't be downloaded.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download Twitter videos without X Premium?

Yes. Marukit doesn't use your X account at all, so you don't need Premium or a login. It only works for public posts.

How do I save a Twitter video to my iPhone camera roll?

Download the MP4 in Safari, open Files › Downloads, tap the video, then Share › Save Video. It then appears in Photos.

Why is there no 1080p button for some videos?

The buttons match what X stores for that post. If the person uploaded a small video, X doesn't have a 1080p copy, so MP4 (best quality) is the best you can get.
